Day 1: Arrive in Kenya & Transfer to Hotel

Arrive in Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to start your 9 Day Kenya and Uganda Safari. You’ll meet your safari guide who will then transfer you to your booked hotel in Nairobi. On the way to the hotel, you’ll be briefed about this 9 Day Kenya and Uganda Safari holiday tour. Arrive at the lodge and check in.

After lunch, bid farewell to Lake Nakuru National Park and embark on your drive to Masai Mara National Reserve.

Embark a double game drive for opportunities to witness Masai Mara’s iconic wildlife and its natural wonders like the spectacular wildebeest migration. Lunch will be enjoyed in between game drives.

After lunch, continue with your adventure in Masai Mara National Reserve. Masai Mara National Reserve is home to a diverse range of wildlife species including; lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, elephants, giraffes, hippos, zebras, hyenas, cheetahs, and wildebeest among others. For those who wish to witness the spectacular wildebeest unfold in Masai Mara National Reserve, you’ll follow the migration trail for opportunities to witness the large herds of wildebeest and their entourage traverse the Masai Mara plains. An early morning air balloon safari with Champagne Bush breakfast, then a transfer back to your lodge for a morning transfer to the airstrip to board the Air Kenya flight to Entebbe. The flight goes via Kisumu for immigration processes. At Entebbe International Airport, connect with a local lightweight flight to Kihihi airstrip in Kisoro. From Kisoro, you’ll be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by road. Arrive at Bwindi and proceed to your booked safari lodge.

Arrive at the lodge and check in. Spend the rest of your day relaxing at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Start your day early in the morning with breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing and adventure. Gorilla trekking starts at 8 am after a briefing at the park headquarters, you will trek through the dense steep forest searching for the gorillas depending on where they were seen making nests the previous evening. The trekking can last 2-5 hours depending on how soon you find the Gorillas, this is influenced by the location where they stayed overnight.

Trekking can be a tasking adventure, but coming to a facial close-up with these close relatives to humans is a reward worthy to earn. After gorilla trekking, in the afternoon time permitting you will go for a community walk and visit the Batwa pygmies.

Wake up early in the morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, depart the lodge and embark on a drive to Kibale National Park where you’ll enjoy your next primate adventure on this 9 Day Kenya and Uganda Safari. You’ll drive through the scenic countryside with stunning scenery and dramatic landscapes.

Arrive at Kibale National Park and proceed with your drive to your booked safari lodge. Arrive at the lodge and check-in.

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking, Bigodi swamp, and community experience

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, depart the lodge for a Chimpanzee Tracking adventure in Kibale National Park. Kibale is also referred to as the primate capital of the world boasting a healthy population of about 13 different primate species including chimpanzees. There are over 1,450 individuals with several habituated communities that you can trek on your chimpanzee trekking safari in Uganda.

Tracking starts at 7 am with a briefing at Kanyanchu Park headquarters. You’ll be allocated rangers to take you to the forest. An advance team already in the forest keeps tracking the chimps and communicates with your ranger on the radio call, tracking can last for 2 to 4 hours depending on how far the chimps could be feeding. You’ll locate these primates and enjoy bout one full hour observing them as they go by their day. After the trek, return to the park headquarters and then back to the lodge for a refreshing meal and a short rest.

Afternoon visit the Bigodi swamp, this is a community project aimed at improving the livelihoods of the local people, a local guide will lead you on a developed 4.5km trail through the swamp for approximately 3 hours where you can find several bird species including the great blue Turacos, Hornbills Kingfishers and also Black and White Colobus, Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Olive Baboon, L’hoest Monkey, Vervet Monkeys can be spotted. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
