Detailed itinerary for 5 Days Kidepo Valley National Park Safari

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Gulu Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

You will be picked up from Kampala or Entebbe International Airport by your guide. Start your journey at 7:00 am and carry along packed breakfast. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Ranch for a walk alongside rhinos.  After spending 2 hours with rhinos, travel to Gulu town.

Check in at your lodge in Gulu town, relax, and overnight.

Day 2: Travel from Gulu to Kidepo Valley National Park

Wake up early, be treated to a delicious breakfast, and drive to Kidepo National Park. On arrival at your accommodation, check in and then go for a game drive. Wildlife that can be spotted in the park includes herds of buffalo, zebras, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and cheetahs.

Enjoy the game drive moments, take pictures, and spot as much as you can. Return to the lodge, refresh, and have lunch. Later on in the evening, go for another game drive. This increases your chances of seeing more wildlife. Later on return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Full day exploring Kidepo National Park

Wake up ready for an activity-filled day. Have breakfast before you start your game drives. Set off for another breathtaking and rewarding early morning game drive through the open savannah, rocky outcrops, and rings of mountains.

Drive extensively up to Kanangorok Hot Springs in Kidepo Valley National Park and brace yourself for photo moments and chances of sighting more wildlife, especially the cheetahs and ostriches, as they mostly live this side of the park. Drive back to the lodge to relax and have a well-prepared lunch.

In the afternoon, head out for a cultural tour to the Karamojong people around Kidepo Valley National Park for a truly unique experience. The Karamojong are predominantly pastoralists and live primarily on cattle farming.

They are a very interesting group of people with a very strong and unique culture visible from their way of dressing, cooking, dancing, and other daily life activities. If you are interested in Uganda cultural tours, then this is a must-do activity.

Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Gulu

Early in the morning, after breakfast, then go for another game drive. Every day presents itself with different sightings, and therefore, expect to see something different. You will spot as many wild animals on this game drive. Return to the lodge to check out and transfer to Kitgum, where you will have your lunch and continue to Gulu, where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Travel back to Kampala

On the last day of your trip, you shall have breakfast relatively morning and proceed to Kampala with lunch en route, arriving in Kampala by afternoon. Drop off in Kampala or to Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight.
