Queen Elizabeth National Park, located in southwestern Uganda, is the second largest National Park in Uganda spanning approximately 1,978 square kilometers (764 square miles). Established in 1952, the park was originally named Kazinga Channel National Park but was later renamed Queen Elizabeth National Park in honor of a visit by Queen Elizabeth II of England.

The park features a variety of landscapes, including savannahs, wetlands, forests, and lakes. It is home to the famous Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George, providing a rich habitat for numerous species. The breathtaking views of the Rwenzori Mountains to the north add to the park’s scenic charm.

Dinner and overnight at Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Kyambura Gorge is located at the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park, framed by stunning savannah grasslands and offering a breathtaking backdrop of the Rwenzori Mountains alongside the serene recess of the gorge itself. The accommodation features a selection of deluxe and standard bandas, each providing captivating views of the surrounding natural beauty from every corner of the room.

Guests can unwind at the on-site swimming pool and spa, perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. Additionally, all lodge visitors have the opportunity to participate in the Kyambura Gorge eco-tourism project at no extra cost, enriching their experience while supporting local conservation efforts.
